Stage Management

Stage Managers and Assistant Stage Managers are the backbone of a well-run theatre program.

Experience in Stage Management opens doors to many job and scholarship opportunities!

Hone your skills in both:

Develop management skills as you organize:

• Rehearsals
• Actors

We’re looking for people with:

Set Design and Construction

• Planning (consideration of: space, set transport, line-of-sight, scene changes, budget and venue constraints)

• Construction (wood, styrofoam, other materials)

• Painting (techniques for stage)

Costuming

Learn the art of Costuming from Master Costumer Christy Lou Sturman.

Learn skills of:

• Planning (consideration of: color palettes, fabrics, historical accuracy, budgets, etc.)

• Costume construction

• Costume fitting

• Costume organization and storage

• Handling costume emergencies

Properties Master

The Properties Master (Props Master) is a self-starter who works closely with the Director.
Build your résumé with valuable hands-on experience!

The Props Master often works outside of regular rehearsal time, but is needed at some rehearsals for props testing and modifications.

Learn skills of:

• Prop Design (consideration of: color palettes, safety for actors, audience perceptions, historical accuracy, budgets, etc.)

• Prop construction

• Prop testing

• Handling prop emergencies

Internship duration:

6 weeks (negotiable, depending on goals)

10-20 hours per week

Should be available during performances, or train an ASM in the handling of props.

Choreography

Put your choreography skills to practice as you learn the art of choreographing for a wide variety of skill level and build your résumé with valuable experience!
Professional filming that you can submit in your portfolio.

Develop your skills in:

• Choreography (consideration of: costume constraints, dancer ability, stage space, etc.)

• Forwarding the plot through dance

• Leadership

• Creativity

• Teaching a wide variety of dances to a wide variety of personalities (all who are eager to learn!)

• Evaluating staging, and modifying, if needed.

• Encouraging and helping cast members.

15-25 hours per week

Vocal Instruction

Put your Vocal Directing skills to practice as you learn the art of directing music for a wide variety of skill levels, and. build your résumé with valuable experience!

Develop your skills in:

• Planning (consideration of: singer ability, song complexity, need to simplify, etc.)

• Forwarding the plot through song

• Leadership

• Creativity

• Teaching a wide variety of songs to a wide variety of personalities (all who are eager to learn!)
